The RFID Inventory Management System was designed to automate inventory control integrating real-time RFID data with existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) software solution offers. The company's software solutions included enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and supply chain management software.
In 2013, I joined the team and developed a RFID server application that connected to multiple RFID client applications collecting, processing, translating and integrating the data into existing software systems. Server side technologies and tools included Java, Spring MVC Framework, MySQL and Oracle 10g, on the client side we had C#, .NET Compact Framework, Windows CE and Windows Mobile 6.1. We also built an web app to monitor and interface with the RFID server application using HTML5, CSS Bootstrap, and Google Web Toolkit GWT.
The integration of RFID data was not simply an efficiency gain, it introduced new ways of managing business processes and operations. From allowing management to have a better picture of the actual inventory, inbound and outbound flows, to helping supply chain plan out a just-in-time inventory strategy.
