The RFID Network was a project evolution of the RFID Access Control System. As we could not find an affordable RFID IEC/ISO 14443 reader with Ethernet port, we decided to design and build the hardware at the Robotics Study Group.
We started with an Arduino Uno board, an Ethernet Shield, and RFID readers. After evaluating multiple microcontrollers and RFID readers we designed a printed circuit board (PCB) from scratch with the requirements identified. The design and hardware was later used on undergraduate research and senior capstone projects at the university.
